Teacher charged with sexual exploitation of children
UPDATE (04/11/14 4:15PM):
Brannen is now being charged with 10 counts of sexual exploitation and two counts of possession of drug related objects, according to Capt. Dodd with the Dougherty County Sheriff's Office.
He is still in the Dougherty County Jail without bond.
The sheriff's office expects to have additional charges against Brannen Monday.
The Dougherty County Sheriff's Department has arrested an 8th grade teacher in a case that involves child pornography.
Brian Brannen was arrested and charged with one count of sexual exploitation of children. He could be subject to other charges.
Brannen is a teacher at Radium Springs Middle School.
Sheriff's officials served a search warrant Friday and found Brannen home with child pornography and drug paraphernalia.
Dougherty County School System officials say that Brannen will be on administrative leave and will not be around children.
Superintendent David Mosely says that Brannen was moved recently from another DCSS school due to discipline issues. He adds that Brannen wasn't following the directive of the principal and was set to be terminated at the end of the year.
They placed him in an open position at Radium Springs for the remainder of the year.
Due to these disciplinary issues, he is in the process of being terminated now.
