While running the license plate reader in the 2200 block of West Gordon Sunday evening, an Albany Police Department officer got an alert on a tag indicating that the registration was suspended, leading to an even bigger find: five bags of weed.

Officials say that the officer conducted a traffic stop with lights and sirens, pulling over a Cadillac Deville in the 800 block of Willie Pitts Jr. Road.

When he approached the vehicle, he immediately detected a smell of marijuana coming from the inside of the vehicle say officials.

At that point, he requested additional units and upon arrival, searched the vehicle. During the search, five bags of marijuana and over five hundred dollars in cash were found on the front seat.

32-year-old Katavia Hubbard and 32-year-old Gary Hubbard Jr. were arrested and charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, suspended registration, and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute 1000 feet of a park.

This case has been turned over to the Albany-Dougherty Drug Unit for further investigation.
