Sylvester sidewalks keep students off road
The City of Sylvester is working hard on what they're called the Isabella Bike/Pedestrian Project.
Right now, there is a half of a mile of sidewalk on Isabella street near Kings Street. This project will extend that sidewalk to be about a mile long.
Mayor Bill Yearta says these sidewalks are not only important for the beautification of the community but they're putting them near schools so children and their parents are faced with having to walk in the streets.
Yearta said the first sidewalk project on Isabella Street was about $600,000 and the city paid 20% of that. He hopes this second project will cost about the same.
