Sylvester police officer struck by vehicle

Frederick Leon Johnson, 17, is facing three charges including failure to exercise care while driving.
Georgia State Patrol tells Fox 31 that Officer Melanie Rodriguez was directing traffic at Worth County High School when a 17-year-old male student driving a black for pick up hit her. The student drove South on Ga 313, then stopped and pulled into a driveway. The teenager is facing multiple charges including distracted driving. Officer Rodriguez is expected to make a full recovery.
Worthit2u.net is reporting that Sylvester Police Officer Melanie Rodriguez is being treated for injuries sustained after being struck by a pickup truck Wednesday afternoon.
They report that Georgia State Patrol will be investigating the incident.
SPD Sgt. Kenneth Washington told WorthIt2U.net that she should recover just fine. It is believed that she may have suffered a broken arm and some broken ribs.
