      Sylvester Police Department has busy week with drug arrests

      The Sylvester Police Department has released information on four drug cases and multiple arrests made over the span of a week in Worth County.

      Officials say their first bust came at 9:00 AM on January 31st when members of the Sylvester Police Department Drug Unit with assistance from other members of the Police Department, executed a search warrant at 103 East Street in Sylvester. Ronnie Iverson Walker of Poulan has been arrested and charged with two counts of selling a schedule II narcotic for selling Hydrocodone. Walker has also been charged with two counts of selling within 1000 feet of a public park.
      During the course of the investigation, Vonnie Newberry of Sylvester was arrested and charged with one count of selling a schedule II narcotic for selling Hydrocodone and one count of selling within a 1000 feet of a public park.

      The second bust came on February 1st at 1:00 PM, when members of the Sylvester Police Department Drug Unit, with assistance from other members of the Police Department and members of the Poulan Police Department executed a search warrant at a residence in the 100 block of Curtis Street. Officers say that Kevin Hooks has been arrested and charged with obstruction of a law enforcement officer, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, possession of the schedule II narcotic Hydrocodone with intent to distribute and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. The search warrant also netted Quantavis Hooks of Sylvester and he has been charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, possession of the schedule II narcotic Hydrocodone with intent to distribute and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. Investigators say they were able to recover approximately 2 ounces of marijuana, a quantity of Hydrocodone, two handguns, and $864.00 during the execution of the search warrant.

      Their third drug related bust came on February 2nd at 02:15 AM when Sylvester Police Department Lieutenant George Hall arrested Moses Barber of Moultrie for fighting inside of Club Celebrity at 212 South Main Street. Officers say that upon arrest, Barber was found to be in possession of 22 small baggies of suspected Marijuana and a quantity of ecstasy. Barber was charged with disorderly conduct, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of ecstasy with intent to distribute.

      The fourth drug case occurred on February 4th at 12:53 AM when Sylvester Police Department patrolman Kenneth Eaton made a traffic stop on West Franklin Street near Monroe Street in Sylvester. The driver of the vehicle, Martavious Dejun Williams of Sylvester, entered the parking lot of the EZ Corner Central and attempted to flee on foot. After a brief foot pursuit, Williams was arrested and found to be in the possession of 25 small baggies of suspected marijuana. Williams has been charged with obstruction of a law enforcement officer and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
