The Georgia Department of Transportation issued a "Notice of Grant Award" alerting the Southwest Georgia Regional Airport that the Federal Aviation Commission has given the airport millions in funding.

The money designated for the construction of the new terminal is a combination of $1.1 million dollars in FAA funding and $2.04 million in discretionary spending funds.

The project will require Southwest Georgia to chip in as well. The local portion of the funds will be supplied through a one cent sales tax approved last November in SPLOST VII.
