Suspended Worth County sheriff arrested by GBI
Suspended Worth County Sheriff Jeff Hobby was arrested by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation on Friday.
The GBI charged Hobby with 66 counts of eavesdropping and surveillance that invades the privacy of another and violation of oath of office.
On February 26, the District Attorney's office was given information about a possible recording device in the attorney-client interview room at the Worth County jail, which they say was installed at the direction of Hobby. The arrest warrants cover acts that date back to July 13, 2017.
After the GBI investigated, they issued warrants for Hobby's arrest. He turned himself into the Worth County jail on Friday. He will be at the Lowndes County jail until his first court appearance on Monday, March 12.
