      Suspect(s) sought in Schley accident

      UPDATE, 4/6/13 3:00 PM

      Albany Police have made an arrest in the case of a vehicle that wrecked at Palmyra Road and Schley Avenue. The driver has been identified as Demetria Harris and was taken into custody at The Sandtrap on Oglethorpe Boulevard.

      Harris has been charged with: fleeing or attempting to elude police, reckless driving while license suspended, failure to maintain lane, no insurance, use of a license plate to conceal or misrepresent a vehicle ID.

      The original incident had Harris driving through the FOX 31 parking lot, jumping the embankment and striking a light pole before she fled the scene.


      Albany police officers attempted to pull over a 2002 black, Mercury Mountaineer early Monday morning for failure to maintain lane.The driver of the Mountaineer turned into the FOX 31 parking lot and proceeded to drive down the embankment and on to Palmyra Road.

      The Mountaineer raced north on Palmyra at a high rate of speed and continued around the curve when the driver lost control of the car.

      The car crashed into a pole, at the corner of Palmyra and Schley Avenue, and flipped. The driver, and possibly a passenger, got out of the vehicle and fled the scene.

      Officers are searching the area for the suspect(s).
