      Students tackle race relations in schools

      Students from local schools got personal and expressed their feelings and thoughts on race in school. The forum which was hosted by the Southwest Georgia Project Healing Initiative gave students from all walks of life the chance to talk about issue their facing in their day to day life in school.

      The forum, hosted by the Southwest Georgia Project Healing Initiative, gave students from all walks of life the chance to talk about issue their facing in their day to day life in school.

      Dominique Riggins says, "we have to get better with educating individuals and their awareness on race and how it affects society and education."

      BreAnna Taylor says, "if you have a teacher you're going to do bad, you're going to start thinking it so if you have a teacher that has a very positive attitude, then you'll go far in life."

      Students came from Monroe, Deerfield-Windsor, Sherwood Christian, and Byne.

      All are in the Dougherty County School System.
