In honor of Dr. Seuss' birthday, schools across Southwest Georgia are celebrating.

Special guest readers like the marines from MCLB-Albany, members of law enforcement and government officials were invited to ready to students at West Town Elementary School Friday morning.

Students we spoke to say they enjoyed Read Across America Day because it was fun and different than what they normally do in class.

Marie Salter says this day is important because "it emphasizes the importance of reading and how reading is the key to success in all facets of life."
