Students and parents get REAL at Sherwood Acres
Students and parents ate food and listened to information at the 2nd Annual R.E.A.L. Boys R.E.A.L Men Breakfast at Sherwood Acres Elementary School on Thursday.
The program stands for Reaching, Enlightening, and Liberating Boys while Refining, Enhancing, and Liberating Men and was created in 2010 by Martez Favis.
Favis says he founded the program as a way to place positive male mentors in young boys' lives which is important for their success as men.
Favis also spoke to R.E.A.L. Boys R.E.A.L Men about a special Power a Bright Future grant for $50,000 sponsored by Clorox for which the group is a finalist.
Members say the money will allow them to go on educational trips and purchase uniforms to get the boys in the habit of dressing professionally.
Voting starts on Monday and runs through December 17th -- to vote for R.E.A.L. Boys R.E.A.L Men visit www.powerabrightfuture.clorox.com.
