Student athlete impersonators collecting money in Dougherty County
In a press release issued by the Dougherty County School System, Public Information Director R.D. Harter warns the community to be careful of people posing as student athletes looking to support "high school athletics championships."
The full release can be read in it's entirety below:
"The students and staff of the Dougherty County School System are grateful for the support community members who donate to our programs and special events. We also appreciate those who purchase items that fund student experiences that may be academic, athletic or extra-curricular. It has been brought to our attention that some young people posing as student-athletes are asking for money to support high school athletics championships. There is no such collection for that purpose at this time. Please be careful to know who you are contributing to and call the school if you question the solicitation of money for causes that do not seem legitimate. The continued support of our community is important to our future and appreciated."
