In light of the financial crisis in Ben Hill County , officials are implementing a new prescription drugs savings program to help residents save on their medications.
The new Coast2Coast Rx card allows all county residents, regardless of income, age, or health status to get a discount on the cost of some of their prescription drugs.
Pets and people living outside the county are also able to participate in the program.
The free card can be used at all pharmacy chains in Ben Hill County and there are no eligibility requirements for participation.
This new program will come at no cost to the county. Coast2Coast Rx will pay the county a royalty of $1.25 per prescription and the royalty does not increase cardholder cost.
The program saved cardholders throughout the nation an average of 55% in 2011 on the cost of prescription drugs.
The Coast2Coast Rx card will be available for residents at most participating pharmacies, governmental offices, libraries and County health facilities. Residents will also be able to print the Rx card and view the nearest participating locations at www.coast2coastrx.com .
Other Georgia Counties in the program include Augusta-Richmond, Banks, Charlton, Chatham, Greene, Habersham, Heard, Jones, Liberty, Monroe, Oconee, and Turner.
