Strong storms push into Southwest Georgia

Sylvester, GA / Paulette Norris Hembree

Strong thunderstorms are expected to push through Southwest Georgia Sunday afternoon and evening.

With these storms, heavy rain, strong winds, excessive lightning and small hail are possible.

If you are outdoors, keep an eye at the sky. Look for darkening skies, flashes of lightning, or increasing winds.

If you hear the sound of thunder, go to a safe place immediately.

The best place to go is a sturdy building or a car. If there is no shelter around you, stay away from trees. Stay out of the water and avoid metal.

If you're indoors, stay away from windows and doors and stay off porches until the storm has passed.
