Storm volunteer groups looking for a helping hand

"If we run out of funds and aren't able to renew the rental on the equipment, then I feel pretty confident that what we are doing is going to have to come to an end," volunteer Tom Gieryic said.

Albany volunteer clean-up crews are facing serious challenges with clearing trees and debris from homes.

The group has been working since the first storm in January, and initially received plenty of help and donations from the community.

Now, they are running out of funds, forcing them to return the rental equipment they've been using within the next few days.

"If we run out of funds and aren't able to renew the rental on the equipment, then I feel pretty confident that what we are doing is going to have to come to an end," volunteer Tom Gieryic said.

The volunteer group is raising money to rent equipment by selling raffle tickets for a new chainsaw. Raffles are $10, and anyone interested in buying one or more should swing by Gieryic's Automotive Repair, 2401 Dawson Rd. Albany, Ga. 31707.
