At Wednesday's Dougherty County School Board meeting, board members voted 4-3 to increase the monthly stipend each board members is awarded. They stipend will be increased from $250 to $1,000.

Board member Darrell Ealum says "they weren't telling us as board memebers that we appreciate you, we really love what you're doing and therefore we're going to honor you by paying you a stipend that's equitably fair."

The raise recommendation will be sent to the Georgia General Assembly, which means there could be a raise effective July 2014, if passed by the state.
