Several state officials were in Albany Monday touring the local library system.

State Representative Gerald Greene and State Senator Freddie Powell-Sims went on a tour of Tallulah Massey Branch Library, Westtown Branch Library, Northwest Branch Library, Central Library, and the temporary location for Central Library.

Greene told FOX 31 they are working to get a $2 million grant to use towards renovations in some of these libraries. Greene said as a former educator, libraries are important to him and he thinks they're important to the whole community. It was important to Greene to come see these libraries in person and he said he was impressed with what he saw.
