Georgia's Attorney General Sam Olens has appointed a special prosecutor for a gambling case involving Albany's former mayor and a well known businessman.
Julia Slater, the District Attorney for the Chattahoochee Circuit, has been chosen as prosecutor over the case.
Dougherty County District Attorney Greg Edwards said he received a letter that disclosed this information on Monday.
Edwards had recused himself from the gambling case.
From this point on, Julia Slater and her team will take over for the prosecution.
