Now that the legislative session has come to a close in Atlanta, a special lunch was held for our local legislators in Albany Friday.
The Albany Chamber of Commerce threw the annual Legislative Appreciation Luncheon. About 60 people representing businesses in Albany showed up to honor state senator Freddie Powell-Sims and Representatives Carol Fullerton, Ed Rynders and Winfred Dukes.
Chamber of Commerce Legislative Affairs Chairman Jay Smith says this session was a good one for Albany.
"We got funding for two major projects at the colleges," said Smith "We got some legislation enacted that supports the work ready initiative."
Officials said the progress in getting funds for the colleges and for road work was especially remarkable due the economic downturn.
