Southwest Georgians sound off on lotto

The Power-Ball rolled and for most of the country, it was back to business as usual.

The Powerball rolled, and all of America let out a disappointed exhale as the winner was announced in Florida.

The lucky winner beat the odds by taking home 590 million dollars, which is the largest amount in Powerball history.

But with odds that slim, we wanted to know if some Southwest Georgians think playing the lottery is just a waste of money.

"I just believe in not wasting my money on things like that," said one Albany resident.

"I think it's a good idea to help the schools and to help the community," said a Dawson resident.

"It's only a buck, two bucks, you throw that away everyday on food," said another Albany resident.

"My money is hard to come by, so I don't play much....maybe a scratch off or two," said a Tifton resident.

Waste or not, if you spent anytime on social media websites today, you know plenty of people were willing to shell out a couple bucks for a chance at the big jackpot.
