AAA projects 43.6 million Americans are gassing up and hitting the roads this Thanksgiving, a 0.7% increase from last year.
Some local drivers say they're filling their tanks and driving to places like Columbus or Atlanta to see family and it's worth the cash. Drivers like Joyce Clark say they've set aside money to afford the trip and nothing can keep them from family.
Although some are filling up and going away for the holiday, others are doing all they can to save money.
Kirven Davis says he's parked his truck for the week and is instead using his motorcycle to ride around home for Thanksgiving. Davis says he takes the money he saves on not traveling and uses it to put more on the table.
Whether you're traveling a little or a lot, drivers say just make sure to follow the speed limit and get plenty of rest so the roads are as safe as possible.
