Operation Pill Drop, was held on Saturday, with both Lee and Dougherty county seeing great numbers from local citizens.

Dougherty County racked up 60,100 pills and 10 gallons of liquid medication, and Lee County set a new record bringing in 90 pounds of non-prescription medication.

Sheriff Reggie Rachals says these efforts aren't just for one day out of the year.

"Our drop box is open 24-hours-a-day, 7-days-a-week, and anyone that wants to drop off their old prescription or non-prescription medications is welcome to, so we can dispose of them properly," said Sheriff Rachals.

Lee County last year brought in 55-pounds of medication which means they almost doubled that total in 2013.
