It seems tire insurance is becoming a trend in other parts of the country.
Tire sellers and car dealers are suggesting wheel and tire protection plans now more than ever.
This is because damaged roads beat up on the tires of cars and trucks. One Michigan company has seen a 350 percent increase in customers purchasing insurance for tires.
Here in Southwest Georgia, most people haven't heard about it but have mixed opinions.
"There's not as many potholes as there are say like up north where they have snow and the deteriorating concrete and asphalt but I wouldn't buy it," Mike Lane said.
Michael Washington feels differently and says it might be worth it.
"You never know," Washington said. "I mean you never know when you might need it. People say get insurance just in case something happens. Anything could happen, so I'd probably do it."
Many people and local tire sellers say it's a scam.
