Softball spectator sent to the slammer

An altercation at a softball game landed a parent in jail and a police officer hurt.

Officials with the Dougherty County Schools Police Department say Wednesday night, 46 years old Michael Leon Jackson was acting out in the stands at Highland Park.

When the police officer on duty at the game approached Jackson, he grabbed the officer around the neck and proceeded to choke her.

Other officers who were at the game and came to the officers rescue.

Chief Troy Conley with the Dougherty County Schools Police Department says, "you're not to put your hands on police officers or not adhere to their directives when they make contact with you."

Jackson is charged with two felony counts of obstruction of an officer, and one count of disorderly conduct.

That officer who was attacked suffered minor bruising and is okay.
