      Smokey start for Society Avenue

Firefighters were called out to a residential structure fire early Friday morning at 1323 East Society Avenue.A driver passed by the residence and noticed the flames and smoke coming from the home and called for help.Neighbors say a man lives in apartment B of the duplex and uses a charcoal grill for heat and light since the home does not have power. Multiple searches were made and no one has been found."Did a quick search of the apartment, didn't find anybody. Proceeded to fight the fire, did a secondary search but going into the A apartment. Had to pull the ceiling, it had gotten up into the attic. Did fire control, did a secondary search of the house and found nobody," said Battalion Chief Keith Ambrose.Officials are still investigating the cause but say the charcoal grill was not to blame. The home is a complete loss.
