Shots fired on Slater King Drive

17-year-old Trawick Kennedy was charged in Sunday's shooting incident

The Albany Police Department has released the following information:

On 12/11/2011 at approximately 20:48 hours, officers were dispatched to Mount Zion Apartment Complex in response to a shooting. Upon arrival, Officers found 19-year-old Jamarous Wright lying on the floor inside the apartment with a gunshot wound to his back. Wright was transported to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital for further treatment. This case has been forwarded to the Albany Police Department Gang Unit and remains under investigation.

Albany Police Department has charged 17-year-old Trawick Kennedy with nine counts of aggravated assault, one count of aggravated battery, one count of possession of a weapon during the commission of a crime, four counts of cruelty to children and gang participation. Kennedy was picked up by the gang unit in the 600 block of South McKinley.

Dougherty County dispatch has confirmed that there has been a shooting on Slater King Drive in East Albany.

Authorities got the call around 8:48 p.m.

EMS was on the scene.
