Moultrie Police are investigating after reports of shots fired in an area that has already seen several shootings already this year.

Rodney James says he was at the intersection of 3rd Street and 6th Avenue Sunday night when the person in the car behind him starting firing shots from the car.

Investigator Raul Leal says no one was hit by bullets but a Mercedes Benz SUV in the neighborhood was hit.

Jimmy Lewis lives near the intersection and says he heard about three gunshots.

"I thought it was just some rowdy fans after the Superbowl," Lewis said. "I didn't know if it was gunfire or firecrackers."

Leal says there is no reason to link this shooting to any other violence that has occurred in the area recently.
