Tift County police officers responded to the Walmart located in the 1800 block of Highway 82 West in reference to shoplifting.

Upon arrival, the Loss Prevention officer, Sada Williams was exiting the store pointing to a suspect matching the description from dispatch.

The suspect was identified as a white male wearing a black jacket and hat.

Officer Joyce Clark followed the suspect, 41-year-old Jason Boshart, through the parking lot and advised Boshart to stop. The suspect ignored many attempts to stop and got in to his vehicle and attempted to get away.

Another responding officer came to assist Officer Clark. Boshart attempted to hit the responding officer's car.

Officer Clark drew her weapon which prompted the suspect to stop the car. Officer Clark and Detective Sgt. McCrae removed Boshart from the car and placed him into handcuffs after a struggle.

The officers searched the vehicle and found multiple stolen items totaling just over $175 and cocaine.

Boshart was arrested and charged with theft by shoplifting in the first offense, possession of controlled substance (cocaine), and two counts of felony obstruction of an officer with force.
