Shoplifting stop leads to multi-person meth bust

41-year-old Stoney Lee Gaskins faces charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of substances used for the manufacture of methamphetamine, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Lowndes County Sheriff's deputies have made six arrests after a shoplifting incident led to find meth and meth supplies.

Sheriff's officials say that on Monday evening, their investigators stopped a vehicle after one of the occupants exited a business on Norman Drive with merchandise that she had failed to pay for. While speaking with Rachael Durgin, the investigators discovered a quantity of Methamphetamine and other narcotics that are commonly used for the production of Methamphetamine.

Information from the traffic stop led to the discovery of additional stolen property on Tuesday from a residence on Porter Road in Lake Park. At this residence, investigators say they located a quantity of methamphetamine, items used to manufacture methamphetamine and firearms. Stony Gaskins and Judy Wetherington were also arrested after locating these items.

Another search was performed at a South Sherwood Drive address that led to the discovery of methamphetamine and items used to manufacture methamphetamine, leading to the arrest of Brandon Spires, James Delk, Jr., and Sarah Deloach.

Investigators are continuing to work with investigators from the Brooks County Sheriff's Office regarding the recovery property.
