The Dougherty County Sheriff's Office kicked off its annual Shop with the Sheriff event Friday morning.
Sheriff Kevin Sproul and his staff met with 22 children today at Tokyo Japanese Steakhouse and Sushi Bar on Dawson Road.
After lunch, the students headed down the street to Kmart to go Christmas shopping.
"It lets them see us on a different stage or different level. They don't see us kicking in the door and arresting somebody. They see us as their friend," said Sheriff Sproul.
The event will continue until Christmas and there will be a total of 52 underprivileged Dougherty County students who will receive gifts.
