We now know the name of the victim from Monday's shooting incident.

45-year-old Augustin Cobrera-Lopez was shot above the right eye at the Paradise Village Mobile Home Park on Holly Drive.

"The last report we got was that he was stable. It appears his right eye is affected. All indications are that he will recover," says Cpt. Jimmy Sexton with the Dougherty County Police.

Sexton says they are following a few leads, but wants anyone with information to call them at 229-430-6600, or if they wish to remain anonymous, to call Crimestoppers at 229-436-8477.

They believe the suspect drove off in a blue two or four door vehicle with a missing hubcap and a Dougherty County license plate.

A friend of the shooting victim -- whose name police say they cannot release at this time -- says it started off as an afternoon of grilling for them when things took a turn for the worse.

"The guys, they were cooking chicken and they say two black peoples come up to them, asking for their money and then one got shot," says Manuel Gonzalez, a neighbor. He says one of the suspects fired a gun at the victim after he told them they had no cash.

The man who called police after the shooting says the victim had a lot of blood on his face but that he managed to get into the car to wait for EMS to arrive. Police say they do not know the condition of the victim at this time.

"The way I seen it he got shot in the head but he's still okay, he's standing up, he don't fall," says Gonzalez.

Police say the two suspects fled the scene in a blue two-door car that they believe had a missing hubcap.

"We would appeal to the public to assist us with this. apparently this car was seen earlier in the mobile home park. and hopefully someone saw these individuals," says Capt. Jimmy Sexton with the Dougherty County Police Department.

Sexton says one of the suspects is a black male who was wearing a brown jacket with a black shirt underneath and blue jeans. He says the other suspect is a black male who was wearing a white shirt and orange pants; Sexton says they believe this man is the shooter.

If you have any information in connection with this case you are urged to call the Dougherty County Police Department at (229) 430-6600 or Crime Stoppers at (229) 436-TIPS.
