Severe weather possible Monday night across SWGA
Two weather systems are expected to bring storms to Southwest Georgia Saturday and Monday.
SATURDAY: Showers and storms are expected, especially in the after lunchtime. Our latest data shows rain chances increasing later in the day. Severe weather is not expected. Any storm could produce gusty winds, torrential rain and lightning.
MONDAY: A stronger system will impact Southwest Georgia Monday. The energy available for storm development will be greater Monday. Other elements in the environment suggest a better chance for damaging wind and tornado development.
As a reminder, we are firmly in severe weather season. According to the National Weather Service, 18% of Georgia's tornadoes develop in March.
