Seven nominations, one Small Business of the Year

For most, small business is the backbone to local economy.

May 12th through the 16th is National Small Business Week.

Tuesday night, small businesses around Albany came together at the Albany Museum of Art for networking and food to celebrate all of the hard work done each day.

Each year, small businesses are nominated for multiple awards given out by the Albany Area Chamber of Commerce.

Seven businesses were nominated this year for the ultimate award. For the year of 2014, the Small Business of the Year goes to Stewbo's.

Hughey and Neuman were the runners up; Albany Pallet Exchange was the second runner up and Breakaway Cycles won the inaugural Innovative Customer Service Award.

Bo Henry, owner of Stewbo's, told FOX 31 that it makes him proud to be from Albany. Henry adds, "this is our home town and it really means a lot to us as a family business; it means a lot to us to still be doing business in our home town."
