After pleading no contest to charges relating to prescription drugs, Poulan's mayor will remain in office.

City Attorney Tommy Coleman says, in the state of Georgia, a public servant cannot serve if they've been convicted of a felony.

Since Hugh Grubbs pled no contest and is a first offender, he was not found guilty of any crime.

This means he is not disqualified for the position of mayor.

If Grubbs adheres to his probation guidelines, his slate will be wiped clean and the offense will not show up on his record.
