Second Harvest of South Georgia is teaming up with SB&T Bank and Turner's Furniture to encourage the public to make one last food donation before the holiday.
Second Harvest Branch Director Jim Case says because of the economy they've collected less food than last year and they're trying to give it one last shot to get as much as they can for needy families.
Case's group has collected around 1,800 lbs. of canned goods from various schools participating in drives but Case says he's urging people to just donate one more can to make a difference in the lives of others.
Though everyone has taken a hit from the economy and may not be able to provide as much as last year, Case says there are families who won't have anything without these canned goods.
Donation boxes will be posted at the bank and furniture stores for the rest of the week before Second Harvest gives out the donations on Friday.
To donate, simply drop off a canned good at any of the locations. Second Harvest will also be collecting coats for those who are looking to give one away.
