Despite the crunched time between Thanksgiving and Christmas, the Salvation Army is continuing to help many in need.
So far, with the help of schools, they have collected over 500 boxes of food.
Major Kelly English with The Salvation Army adds that they plan to give families a nutritional pack that includes meat, veggies, and grains like cereal and rice. While collecting food for families in need this organization also maintains a shelter that has reached 90 percent capacity almost every night.
English adds although they intended to raise around $78,000 this year and might not meet the quota The Salvation army plans to raise at least $64,000 - what they raised last year.
