Schools follow rules for athletes and heat

Hot temperatures are hovering over our area but student athletes still have to practice.

When temperatures are below 82 degrees, athletic students must have at least three rest breaks each hour.

As the temperature rises above 87 degrees, practice times are limited to one to two hours. During these practices, protective athletic wear is prohibited.

If the temperature is above 92.1 degrees then all outdoor activities are cancelled.

Any school system caught not following the Georgia High School Association standards will face penalty.
