Schools in Dougherty County have been back in session for about two weeks now and police say they've noticed a decrease in the amount of citations they've issued in school zones.
Officials say the number one school zone violation is speeding.
Last year, in the first two weeks of school, there were 40 tickets written out for fast drivers.
This year there have only been 26 violations.
Traffic cops say people are becoming more aware of the school zone locations and active times.
"Our goal is not to have any citations and that means that citizens are aware of the school zones," said Officer Dustin Hickox, Albany Police Department.
He says most people are preoccupied when they are caught speeding.
