The Lee County School System has seen a rise in their economically disadvantaged student population in recent years.

As a result, the school system has called upon the help of Ruby Payne, a world renowned speaker for educating students of poverty.

On Wednesday, Payne gave a presentation at Lee County High School about ways the school system can best work with those students.

Payne says her goal is to, "develop talent and to develop full potential for every human being which will make our country strong."

Payne has been a professional educator since 1972 and has written or co-authored more than a dozen books surrounding issues of poverty in areas of education, social services, business, communities, churches, relationships, and leadership.
