School board approves new principals for six schools

In Wednesday's Dougherty County School System board meeting, members approved several new positions throughout schools in the county.

In total, there are now six new principals throughout the county and one new assistant principal.

Darrell Ealum, a member of the school board, says all of the newly hired officials are what they're calling "game-changers." They have a track record of going into schools and changing things around for the better. Ealum says these new principals and assistant principals will be held more accountable; having to create a goal setting sheet with the superintendent and report back on those goals in a year.

The newly appointed principals are:

Albany High School: Rodney Bullard

Dougherty Comprehensive High School: Dr. Gregory Ryan Gravitt

Albany Middle School: Therman Flowers

Live Oak Elementary School: Latonya Stephenson

M.L.King, Jr. Elementary School: Dr. Ronald Lewis

South Georgia Regional Achievement Center: Dr. David Hamilton
