Four in 10 consumers, according to AAA TMs survey, will redeem their reward points to save during the holiday season; nearly half of them are using the points for cash back and 35 percent are using the points to purchase merchandise for others.

"On Nov. 13 we're actually having 'better than Black Friday,' our 'family and friends,' it's going to be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. They're going to be doing deals that are better than Black Friday."

A study by Brand Keys says 66 percent of the 16,000 consumers surveyed indicated they already started their holiday shopping and are looking for deals and sales before Black Friday or Cyber Monday.
