Saturday blaze burns trailer

SECOND UPDATE 5:00 PM, 7/13/13

Albany Fire Battalion Chief, Daniel Potter reports that the trailer has suffered severe damage due to the Saturday afternoon fire.

Parts of the kitchen and living room were badly damaged with other parts of the home suffering heat and smoke damage.

No cause for the fire has been announced, and Battalion Chief Potter says no injuries have been reported.

FOX 31 spoke with the owner of the trailer, Kerri Hitt, who says that she went outside and when she looked back at her home, it was in flames. Hitt also says that they do not have insurance on the home.


Albany Fire officials responded to reports of a fire in the 600 block of Cordele Road, finding heavy smoke and visible flames.

The blaze reportedly burned through a trailer positioned on the side of the road, causing severe damage to the mobile home.

Four Albany fire engines were called to the scene, along with an ambulance and reports are that the fire is under control at this time.

The cause of the fire has yet to be determined, and there have been no reports of injuries at the scene from fire officials.
