Several officials including the Moultrie Police Department, M.A.D.D., Moultrie Fire Department, Lowndes County Sheriff Department, and the Colquitt County EMA, among many others, gathered in Moultrie today for their annual Kids Safety Expo.

With several recent shootings, break-ins, and robberies in Colquitt County, it's important for kids and parents to learn what to do in an emergency situation.

The fire department was specifically showing kids what to do in case of a fire and how to get out, and encouraging parents to do drills with their kids.

Organizers of the event say crime is a problem everywhere these days and everyone, especially kids, need to be aware. They also said it's important for kids to know that these officials are there to help them and they shouldn't be afraid of them.
