Up to the month of November, there have been 162 robberies in the City of Albany.
To prevent this number from increasing officials gave safety tips and reassurance to citizens and businesses about robbery.
Detective Schemika Foster of the Albany Police Homicide and Robbery Unit says that it's essential to always look and notice your surroundings.
She adds well lit places are usually safer, and that pulling money out in an open space can also draw attention and put you more at risk as a target.
Foster continues to say police try to post around stores during late hours, to assure citizens and businesses of their safety, "we want to ensure and let our citizens know that we have a job to do."
