Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College held their second annual 'Run for the Nurses' Saturday morning.

All of the proceeds from the race benefit the Lisa Purvis Allison Spirit of Nursing Scholarship Fund. Hazel Purvis, Lisa's mother, said this scholarship is a way to keep Lisa's memory alive. Lisa was once a nursing student, and very passionate about it, but was unable to finish school after her diagnoses of cancer.

Purvis says staying busy with the scholarship fund and the race has partially helped with the healing process.

Coordinators of the event say the turnout was a lot better than they had anticipated and they are excited to raise as much money as possible for the scholarship fund.
