Rotary president passes over gavel

Members of the Dougherty County Rotary Club spent the afternoon honoring those who have dedicated their time to service work before ushering in their new president on Tuesday.

Both the Rotarian and rookie of the year were announced by former president Karen Kemp who then passed the gavel over to president elect Gary Nevins.

Nevins says the group has been extremely successful under Kemp and he plans to continue that while also implementing some changes like focusing more on subcommittees and inclusivity.

Nevins says he wants to see more if not all Rotarians participating in their activities and hopes to gain new members by having some high-profile speakers throughout the year.
