Roads getting safer after icy weather
Officials with the Georgia State Patrol say that the roads are clear from hazards and safe to drive on.
Chilling weather conditions left the Southwest Georgia roads icy and dangerous for the past few days leading to multiple wrecks.
GSP Sergeant Shawn Urquhart says the roads are safe now and most wrecks occurred on bridges, which are also safe.
Urquhart adds that the last wreck was noted around noon Wednesday and that the Georgia Department of Transportation did a good job of distributing sand in pertinent places along highways and roads.
Troopers in Atlanta reported to Sgt. Urquhart that roads are also safe but they're now having problems with abandoned cars still left on the road.
