On Monday, local police asked the public to hold off on firing their guns into the air at midnight but officials say they still received calls from concerned citizens saying they heard gunshots or firecrackers.
Deputy Chief Lewis Harris with the Lee County Sheriff's Office says these acts can be dangerous but there were no injuries.
