Dougherty County District Attorney Greg Edwards say a jury has found Rico Jones guilty of felony murder in the 2010 death of his 3-year-old stepdaughter Camyria Arnold.
The child was found unresponsive back on December 27, 2010. She was transported to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital and later to the Medical Center of Georgia in Macon where she passed away after being declared brain dead.
At the time, Rico claimed that the child passed out after he gave her a cold bath to wake her up because she seemed sluggish.
According to the original police report, the child had bruises on her right thigh, the left side of her neck and red marks on her chest. It also says her body temperature and sodium levels "were consistent with drowning."
Jones was originally charged with reckless conduct from allegations that he used marijuana in front of Camyria. Traces of the substance were found in the child's system.
District Attorney Greg Edwards says Rico Jones will be sentenced at a later date.
