Reward offered in Albany arson investigation
The Albany Fire Department needs your help to find out who’s responsible for two cases of arson.
Both fires were on Monday night, with the first call coming in around 11:30 p.m. They were each in vacant apartment buildings on Marie Road, about a block from each other.
Investigators said they found chairs on fire in both apartments, one in a kitchen and the other in a living room, so the cases could be related.
They’re offering a $10,000 reward for tips that could lead to an arrest and conviction as AFD is now trying to figure out who started the fires.
“We’re asking the community if they have any information regarding this, then please contact Crime Stoppers or the Albany Fire Department and help us to solve these crimes,” AFD Investigator Sam Harris said.
If you have information about these fires, you can call Crime Stoppers at 229-436-TIPS, AFD at 229-431-3266, or the Georgia Arson Control Hotline at 1-800-282-5804.
